Green Card Interview

Monday February 24th I had my interview for my green card. I was so nervous I could not even sleep the day before. I had read online about how these interviews work and I think that scared me because they often said that the interviewers are often very mean and kinda out to get you, so I was worried I did not have enough evidence to prove our relationship (Even though I had a full box of papers).

So we decided to leave early so we would be there on time and we got to the USCIS like 45 min before my appointment so I had to sit there in the waiting room for a long time before the called my name.

After they called my name they took me and my husband to a room where the woman was waiting for us. The woman was so scary and did not even smile at us as we took the oath that said we will tell the truth. She said put all your papers down and sit there quietly until I say you can speak. She was so serious it just made me even more nervous. We sat there quietly until she asked us some questions, and as we answered our questions, she began to warm up to us and started to become nicer and more approachable.

The whole process took about 1 hour and the first half hour was really bad and nerve wrecking but the other part was fine.

She gave us a paper and said that I was approved and that was it. I still can't believe that this whole process is done for now. All I have to work on now is keep collecting evidence about our relationship so that I can send that to the USCIS before my card expires.

Wish me luck

I'm going for my green card interview today, In one hour... I am so nervous.

I'm not nervous because I don't think we will pass, but I'm nervous because I have heard horror stories about people being interviewed by some mean worker who is just out to get them. Haha I know that's probably not going to happen, but I am a worrier and I always worry too much.

So wish me luck and I'll keep you guys updated on how it goes.

Half the Sky

Have any of you ever seen the the part documentary Half the Sky?

It is an amazingly touching documentary of how women are treated around the world. They talk about everything from child prostitution to female genital cutting.

It is very sad, but absolutely worth watching if you have time. It is available on Netflix.

We watched it as part of my Psychology of Women class and it just makes me feel so lucky to have been born in Sweden, and not a country where the women being raped are the ones that bring shame to their family. In Sierra Leon if a women get raped it is not the rapist who gets the blame, but the woman.

Watch it if you can, it will open your eyes.
I just bought the book, so I am hoping to learn more from that one as well.

Sorry for the lack of blogging!

Hey Guys.

I'm the worst blogger ever...
I have not been on here for months and let me tell you why.

For christmas my mom came over from Sweden and we had an amazing time. We went to San Francisco, we drove down highway one all the way to Los Angeles and we just had some well deserved mother-daughter time. So I decided to just spend all my time focused on my family.

After that to be honest I kinda forgot about this blog.. sorry.

School started again and I am almost done with my AA degree and ready to transfer to a university. This semester I am totally focused on my major and taking 3 amazing psychology classes.

The most interesting one is going to have to be Psychology of Women. I'll let you know more about that class when I myself know more.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who still check my blog even though I have posted nothing.

Thanks guys and I hope to blog a lot more.

Oh and here is a picture of highway one and my mom
